WITCH TAINT: THE BLACK METAL DIALOGUES LIVE!

WITH DAVE HILL & PHIL COSTELLO @ ST. VITUS, BROOKLYN, THURSDAY, MARCH 8

In 2004, comedian Dave Hill, a grown man living in New York City, began posing as Lance, a teenager living with his parents in Gary, Indiana, who also just so happened to be the lead singer and sole member of the most extreme, brutal, and Satanic black metal band of all-time, Witch Taint.

As Lance, Dave began emailing with a Norwegian black metal record label owner in Oslo named Saiitham in hopes of getting signed to the label on the strength of one excruciatingly bad song called, “Necrodreamraper.” Their lengthy e-mail conversation, now known among the faithful as the Black Metal Dialogues (www.theblackmetaldialogues.com), quickly became the stuff of legend and is considered by many to be the most infernal, extreme, and downright unholy electronic mail correspondence of all-time.

In WITCH TAINT: THE BLACK METAL DIALOGUES LIVE! this infernal and 100% real email chain is brought life by comedians Dave Hill and Phil Costello, complete with corpse paint, ill-fitting black clothing, and—if all goes as planned—a live and mildly irritated goat, culminating in a live performance by the mighty Witch Taint that will probably scar you for life. This promises to be the most extreme and kvlt thing that has ever happened ever. If you think you can handle it, please come. However, in the event that you have a pre-existing health condition that is aggravated by things that are evil, extreme, infernal, brutal, kvlt, unholy, and/or just sort of negative in general, you will most likely be sent screaming into the night until you eventually grow tired and collapse in a ditch somewhere.

You have been warned.

KURT BRAUNOHLER ANNOUNCES “TRUST MECOMEDY PREMIERE & ALBUM

BRAND NEW COMEDY HOUR AIRS MARCH 3 ON COMEDY CENTRAL

EXTENDED & UNCENSORED ALBUM OUT MARCH 7
ON COMEDY CENTRAL

PRE-ORDER STARTS FEB 21

KURT BRAUNOHLER is tall, white and has the look of a friendly camp counselor. Learn why that’s no reason to trust him in “KURT BRAUNOHLER: TRUST ME” premiering with limited commercial interruption on Friday, March 3 at Midnight ET/PT on Comedy Central

In his first one-hour special, Braunohler seeks to undermine the authority unfairly assigned to white male speakers, expertly delivering self-deprecating stories of loathing and haplessness. It may not be in his own best interests, but Braunohler wants viewers to know all about how he used his girlfriend’s worst fear to propose to her, reunited unexpectedly with a woman he terrified with ventriloquism for a reality TV show, and accidentally/on purpose valued a $20 cover charge over several human lives at an Australian strip club. ABOUT BRIDGETOWN COMEDY FESTIVAL

Long before Portlandia burst onto the scene, there was the Bridgetown Comedy Festival. Over the course of the past decade, Bridgetown has established itself as one of the most esteemed entertainment events on the West Coast, a celebration of innovative humor that proudly bears Portland’s signature style.

This four-day annual event unites thousands of comedy fans with a carefully curated roster of up-and-coming performers and comedy veterans from around the world, not to mention podcasters, writers, filmmakers, and musicians. Bridgetown regularly features seasoned performers and writers from television shows like 30 Rock, Arrested Development, The Daily Show, Conan, Last Week Tonight, Saturday Night Live, and The Simpsons, and the festival’s hand-picked newcomers often go on to become prime-time and box-office favorites. More than just a celebration of stand-up comedy, Bridgetown’s programming offers sketch, improv, podcasts, films, panel discussions, music, interactive audience games, and more. The result is the type of ingenious, creative fantasia that can only happen in Portland.

The festival has hosted over 800 performers throughout its history, including Patton Oswalt, Marc Maron, Janeane Garofalo, Margaret Cho, Maria Bamford, Kristen Schaal, Tim Meadows, Todd Barry, Oscar Nuñez, and Fred Armisen. Each year’s roster of performers features Bridgetown’s distinctive blend of world-famous headliners, up-and-coming performers, and the Pacific Northwest’s top talent. Bridgetown’s track record for spotting tomorrow’s comedy stars before they become household names is also unparalleled; comics who performed at past Bridgetown festivals before breaking out and becoming known to much wider audiences include Amy Schumer, Tig Notaro, Hannibal Buress, Ron Funches, Eric Andre, James Adomian, Chris Hardwick, Reggie Watts, Kyle Kinane, Rory Scovel, Natasha Leggero, Matt Braunger, Moshe Kasher, Nikki Glaser, Pete Holmes, TJ Miller, Sasheer Zamata, Brooks Wheelan, Tone Bell and Jonah Ray, among many others.

Festival venues, focused in Southeast Portland, include Revolution Hall, Doug Fir Lounge, Bossanova Ballroom, the newly renovated Paris Theater and smaller and more informal performance spaces. Audience members can see any of the dozens of shows over the course of the weekend with a single wristband; they can quickly hop from seeing a sold-out show in an 800-seat venue to seeing a national headliner in an intimate, 40-seat performance space on a bar’s back patio.

JAMES FRITZ NEW COMEDY ALBUM ‘STILL TOGETHER

AVAILABLE NOW ON ASPECIALTHING RECORDS

James Fritz.jpeg

“a terrific album from a true professional.” - Bobcat Goldthwait

JAMES FRITZ’s new comedy album STILL TOGETHER is now available on ASPECIALTHING RECORDS. Recorded live, James talks about family, politics, religion, guns, and white people. It’s one of the finest rants ever committed to tape.

Originally from Kentucky, James Fritz is a comedian who is strong as moonshine yet soothing as a Sunday morning. After ruining his credit score in Chicago, he made his way to sunny Los Angeles to kinda tolerate the West Coast lifestyle. Before leaving, he was named “Best Stand-up” by the Chicago Reader. The Chicago Tribune called his comedy “a seamless blend of humor, honesty, and fearlessness.” He was featured at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Just For Laughs in Chicago, Crom Fest, and The Fest in Gainesville. Since moving to LA, he has performed all over town including The Meltdown, The Hollywood Improv, Put Your Hands Together at UCB, and is co-host of the long-running, much-beloved bar show, “Babe Island.

“James has a big heart, and he’s not afraid to show you where it’s broken. He’s brilliant, hilarious and honest.” - Bobcat Goldthwait

“No other comic working today mines the personal depths of sadness with such uplifting results like Fritz. A fearless intronaut exploring the gears of not only his but all our human machines, there’s healing underneath all the jokes. And I’m sure he hates reading this about himself.” - Kyle Kinane

James Fritz is a miracle, and ‘Still Together’ made me laugh so loud that I woke up the cat. Glad this dude is in my bubble.” - Samantha Irby, author of Meaty and BitchesGottaEat blog

Indie singer songwriter BLUE-EYED SON releases his new single “FURTHER YA GO” via EENIE MEENIE RECORDS today, September 20, as well as a video featuring the talents of Japanese vocalist CHAN-MIKA, producer Ryoji Saito, Gnkosai on drums, Adachi “PANIC” Soichiro on guitar, and Masashi Umeda on bass.

Created jointly by American singer songwriter Andrew Heilprin, a.k.a Blue-eyed Son, and his special guests from Japan, “Further Ya Go” started out as a travel song with a message that no matter where you drift on the waves of time, your friends, family and memories will always go with you. Andrew tinkered around with the song for a couple of years but didn’t finish writing it until one night at a venue called BB Street in Yokohama, Japan. At the end of the night, Andrew asked the other artists to jam an encore with him and when he began playing the “Further Ya Go” chord progression, these magically talented Japanese friends rocked out the best live jam version of the song he had ever heard.

Upon returning home to Venice, CA, Andrew began trading files with his new friends and bringing the song to life. Recording remotely with artists all over the world isn’t anything new, but after hearing the initial mix and reflecting on the process, Andrew remarked that indeed as the song says, “the further ya go, the closer ya get.”

About Blue-eyed Son:

Singer songwriter Blue-eyed Son’s (aka Andrew Heilprin) shimmering acoustic mutations were revealed in his 2004 debut, ‘West of Lincoln’ - a critically acclaimed album that swam beneath the surface of the mainstream while yielding national tours, international tours to both Japan and Australia and licensing for films and TV shows including WEEDS and Grey’s Anatomy. In 2013, Eenie Meenie Records released Blue-eyed Son’s follow-up EP, ‘Shadows on the Son’, which revels in the spirit of alt-rock greats such as Wilco, Granddaddy, and The Flaming Lips. After its release, Blue-eyed Son toured extensively and played more than 100 shows in the US and five shows in Japan. Now, 2016 finds Blue-eyed Son writing/recording new songs for a full-length album release later this year and playing select dates, surfing and enjoying time with his dogs.
