Greg Barris is a staple in New York's downtown stand-up scene and is the creator of Heart Of Darkness: a psychedelic showcase of comedy, live music and fringe scientists that has been a frequent TimeOut New York critic's pick, much loved by BrooklynVegan and hailed as 'Excellent' by The New Yorker. Though he was born in New York City, Barris was raised in Central Florida where his folks currently reside and keep up the family wig making business. Barris now splits his time between New York and LA, and travels along with his band The Forgiveness to bring Heart Of Darkness to audiences in LA, San Francisco and Orlando as well as Brooklyn. In addition to curating and performing every Heart of Darkness live show, Barris' boundless talent and energy is also spent working on a number of television projects including a sci fi action show on time travel co-written with Douglas Ruskoff (ftonline) and Mike Pomeranz (tosh.0) , and an animated show with Rory Scovel and Dima Drujchin. Greg's comedic shorts have been featured on Funny or Die, College Humor and Jay Leno's Laugh Squad to name a few. He has been a commentator on MTV's All That Rocks and MTV's Warren The Ape.
The well-rounded comedian is also the co-owner of L'asso Pizza which was named by New York Times to have the best pizza in New York City, with a second location opening soon. Greg is also the proud owner of a collection of over 3,500 cookbooks.
